The CWA Dagger in the Library Longlist 2014

Ten authors have today been longlisted for the CWA 2014 Dagger in the Library award, thanks to your votes.

The longlist was compiled by YOU right here on Dead Good and we’re thrilled that so many of you stopped by to vote for your three favourite authors.

The response from YOU was staggering. With 1,384 people voting for 636 different authors, the longlist highlights the extraordinary quality and variety in crime writing. Unlike most other literary prizes, the Dagger in the Library honours an author’s whole body of work to date, rather than a single title.

The CWA Dagger in the Library longlist 2014 (in alphabetical order):

MC Beaton (Constable & Robinson)
Tony Black (Black and White Publishing)
Sharon Bolton (Transworld Publishers)
Elly Griffiths (Quercus)
Mari Hannah (Pan)
James Oswald (Michael Joseph)
Phil Rickman (Corvus)
Leigh Russell (No Exit Press)
Mel Sherratt (Thomas & Mercer)
Neil White (Sphere)

The shortlist will be decided by a panel of judges including previous winner Steve Mosby, CWA Director Lucy Santos, and a group of UK librarians.

Judge Steve Mosby commented; “winning the Dagger in the Library in 2012 meant the world to me. Not only is it an award for a body of work, it’s voted on by librarians, so to win was a huge honour. It’s an equal honour to be invited back as one of the judges, and I can’t wait to read this year’s longlist.”

The shortlist will be revealed on Monday 3rd November with the winner being announced at an event in Foyles, Charing Cross Road at the end of November. Stay tuned for more information on how you could be there to see the winner crowned!
