Introducing Detective D D Warren

Sergeant Detective D.D. Warren really exists. Yep. When I first created the character for my 2005 novel, Alone, I wasn’t thinking potential series character. I was thinking I needed a tough city cop for a single murder scene that fell in Boston jurisdiction. I liked the idea of a hard-as-nails female who’d give my sniper hero, Bobby Dodge, a run for his money. I added stilettos, a killer leather jacket and for the piece de resistance, named her after my real-life neighbor, as an inside joke.

Crime novel D.D. Warren loves to eat. She doesn’t have pets, doesn’t trust herself with plants, and considers her three-man homicide squad to be her primary family. She’s not exactly a people-person, but she’s a first crack detective who, over the course of the series, has handled the discovery of six mummified remains, the disappearance of a South Boston wife, and a string of kidnappings.

Which is funny, as the real D.D. Warren is known for her beautiful garden, her fantastic baking skills and her generous personality. On the other hand, she is blonde, beautiful, and brilliant, so I like to think fictional D.D. Warren would be proud of her. Both have great taste in shoes.

I gave my fictional character a friend’s real name because I like to do that kind of thing. My books are generally populated with old high school chums, various long-lost relatives, and of course, the annual winner of my Kill a Friend, Maim a Buddy Sweepstakes. It takes a lot of bodies to populate a suspense novel, and I can’t spend that much time creating new names. My brain is occupied by other Important Ideas, like how to kill them all off.

detective d d warrenWhich is how happy homemaker D.D. Warren became tough Boston Detective D.D. Warren, next due to save the city in my upcoming February 2018 release Look For Me. This time around, Detective Warren really has her hands full. Now happily married (who knew?), and a mother (even bigger shock), she is facing the biggest personal challenge of her life: a new puppy. With a taste for high-end shoes.

But don’t worry. D.D. is still D.D. Happiest on the job. Driven to find the answers at all costs. A family of four has been shot and their teenaged daughter is now missing. Was Roxanna Baez involved in the murder of her own family, or is she the next victim? With the clock ticking, D.D. must race to find the missing girl. While, of course, getting home in time to rescue the next pair of shoes.

I’ve just finished When you see me loved it does anybody think there will be anymore DD books

All of them! I pre-order them on Kindle then buy the hard copies as soon as I can get my hands on them!

I have read every Lisa Gardner book and I have enjoyed each and every one. I try to read them slow, as I know the next one won’t be out until the following year, but I get caught up in the story and before I know it, the book is finished.

All the books. I’ve read all your books the last summer and they’re awesome. I love DD Warren, Tessa Leoni, Rainie Conner and Kimberley Quincy.

Read them all, now listening to them all again on audio for my morning runs. Nothing makes me run faster than listening to a Lisa Gardner book.

Honestly, I’ve read almost everyone! I think I missed a few paperbacks at the beginning of your career, but I know for sure that I’ve read all your hardcovers!

All of them, pretty sure I’ve purchased and read every Lisa Gardner book since I heard her radio interview in late 2015 early 16. Love her books!!
