James Patterson’s Women’s Murder Club books in order:

1st to Die by James Patterson

1. 1st To Die

As the only woman homicide inspector in San Francisco, Detective Lindsay Boxer has to be tough. But nothing she has seen prepares her for the horror of the honeymoon murders, when a brutal maniac begins viciously slaughtering newlywed couples on their wedding nights.

Lindsay is sickened by the deaths, but her determination to bring the murderer to justice is threatened by her own personal tragedy. So she turns to Claire, a leading coroner, Cindy, a journalist and Jill, a top attorney, for help with both her crises, and the Women’s Murder Club is born.

2nd Chance by James Patterson

2. 2nd Chance

When a little girl is shot on the steps of a San Francisco church, Lindsay Boxer reconvenes the Women’s Murder Club.

Working with reporter Cindy Thomas, assistant DA Jill Bernhardt, and medical examiner Claire Washburn, Lindsay tracks a mystifying killer who quickly turns his pursuers into victims. The unorthodox allegiances of the Women’s Murder Club lead them to suspect the unexpected – the killer may be an ex-cop. But nothing prepares them for the demented logic behind his choice of victims.

3rd Degree by James Patterson

3. 3rd Degree

Lindsay Boxer is jogging along a beautiful San Francisco street as a ferocious blast rips through the neighbourhood. A townhouse owned by an internet magnate explodes into flames, three people die and a sinister note signed ‘August Spies’ is found at the scene. A wave of violence is sweeping through the city – and it seems that whoever is behind it is intent on killing someone every three days.

Even more terrifying, the four friends who call themselves the Women’s Murder Club discover that the killer has targeted one of them. And Lindsay learns that a member of the club is hiding a secret so dangerous and unbelievable that it could destroy them all.

4th of July by James Patterson

4. 4th of July

In a late-night showdown, Lindsay Boxer has to make an instantaneous decision: in self-defence, she fires her weapon – and sets off a chain of events that leaves a police force disgraced, a city divided and a family destroyed. Now everything she’s worked for her entire life hinges on the decision of twelve jurors.

To escape the media circus, Lindsay retreats to the picturesque town of Half Moon Bay. Soon after, a string of grisly murders punches through the community. There are no witnesses; there is no pattern. But a key detail reminds Lindsay of an unsolved murder she worked on years ago.

As summer comes into full swing, Lindsay and her friends in the Women’s Murder Club battle for her life on two fronts: in court and against a ruthless killer.

Other patients have taken unexpected and devastating turns for the worse just as they’re planning to go home. Are these just appalling coincidences? Or is a maniac playing God with people’s lives?

When someone close begins to exhibit the same terrifying symptoms, Lindsay fears no one is safe. In a wild race against time she must fight an administration determined to shield its reputation even if it means hiding a killer…

As the Women’s Murder Club fights to solve the two cases, Lindsay’s partnership with Detective Rich Conklin suffers under the strain, and Lindsay finds herself caught between all sides.

8th Confession by James Patterson

8. 8th Confession

A rock star, a fashion designer, a software tycoon and a millionaire heiress are murdered in quick succession – and Lindsay Boxer is charged with solving the case. The only problem is that there’s virtually no evidence to go on – it’s almost the perfect crime.

A local hero, ‘Bagman Jesus’, has been slain too – but San Francisco is too distracted by the high-profile murders. Only intrepid reporter Cindy Thomas, member of the Women’s Murder Club, is on the case, and she soon uncovers hints of dark secrets in the life of this beloved street icon…

The same night, the wife of a Hollywood star walks in on a notorious cat burglar, known as “Hello Kitty”, in the middle of a multi-million-dollar jewel theft. Seconds later, the safe is empty, and the woman is dead – but there’s more to this cat than meets the eye.

As San Francisco descends into hysteria, Lindsay and the Women’s Murder Club try to piece together the case, but one of the killers forces Lindsay to put her own life on the line…

When a distraught mother pleads with Chronicle reporter Cindy Thomas to investigate the disappearance of her daughter, Linda, and baby granddaughter, Lorrie, Cindy immediately loops in SFPD. But Linda’s schoolteacher husband, Lucas Burke, tells a conflicting story that paints Linda as a wayward wife, not a missing person. And there’s reason to believe he may be telling the truth.

While M.E. Claire Washburn harbours theories that run counter to the police investigation of the Burke case, ADA Yuki Castellano sizes Lucas up as a textbook domestic offender – until he puts forward a theory of his own that unexpectedly connects the dots on a constellation of copycat killings. If what Lucas tells law enforcement has even a grain of truth, there isn’t a woman in the state of California who’s safe from the reach of such an unspeakable threat.

I’ve read 1-17 and am reading #18 now. I have always loved this series along with the Michael Bennett Series, Alex Cross series, NYPDRed series, and most of the Private series. I also love many of Patterson’s stand alone books. But, I am upset about the fact that in The 18th Abduction, so far they have completely left out the fact that Lindsay Boxer & her husband Joe have a young daughter! They remembered the dog, but forgot the child. It’s distracting to me. What is wrong with Patterson & Paetro?

So far I’ve read 5. Trying to read in order. At the moment I have just started reading Private. So easy to read and really good.

Happy to say I’ve read them all, even been lucky enough to watch the original TV series a long, long time ago which featured Angie Harmon as Boxer who has gone on to enjoy notoriety as detective Rizzoli. The Women’s Murder Club books are a great way to kick back and relax, unwind and forget the pressures of the day ?

I have read everyone from 1 – 14 twice. I wish it was available as a series as well…..

I am enjoying this series very much. I’m on The 18th Abduction now, and I’m a little confused. I’m 3/4 of the way through the book, and there’s been no mention of Lindsey and Joe’s child. I’m wondering if I missed something.
