First Look: Quirke

Coming this Sunday, Quirke features the creative talents of the smouldering Gabriel Byrne as Quirke, no first name, chief pathologist in the Dublin city morgue.

Based on the books by Benjamin Black, the pseudonym of award-winning Irish writer John Banville, Quirke is a new three-part series for BBC One, adapted by screenwriters Andrew Davies and Conor McPherson.

Each episode will see him investigate the death of one of the unfortunate souls who end up on his mortuary slab. But as Quirke turns accidental detective he discovers his investigations are often more closely linked to his own life than he could ever have imagined. Little by little he is forced to confront the sins of his past as he peels back the layers of his own tangled family history.

Catch Quirke on the 25th May at 9pm.

An excellent BBC drama; this is what we pay our licence for. I thoroughly enjoyed the acting, characters and locations as well as the expanding plot and surprise revelations.

There are complaints from people who cannot hear; well I watched on a 12 year old TV set and won’t see my 40th birthday again and had no problem hearing the dialogue. As for the Telegraph and other idiots that found the plot too confusing, I suggest you never go near a John Le Carre novel.

Quirke is first class drama for adults, just like The Shadow Line and Line of Duty.Should anybody find it too challenging I’m sure Musketeers or Atlantis will be back soon.

Loved watching Quirke on Sunday eve. Most of all fell in love with the beautiful red lace dress. t had a full skirt and low cut back. Could you please tell me where I can find this dress.

Thank you. Look forward to your reply.
