On 29th January we welcome a brand new crime drama to our television screens – a show we’re sure you’ll find chilling, in more ways than one.
Fortitude is quickly becoming one of the most hotly anticipated crime dramas in some time, and with a cast including the likes of Stanley Tucci, Michael Gambon and Christopher Eccleston, it’s not difficult to see why.
Set in the Arctic circle amidst beautiful scenery and a truly savage landscape, the small, remote community that lives in Fortitude believes it to be one of the safest places on earth. There has never been a violent crime there – never, that is, until a murder shakes the town to its core, affecting all who live there and threatening the future of the community altogether.
Billed by The Guardian as Twin Peaks meets The Killing (also dubbed Broadchurch in the Arctic), this chilling murder mystery reportedly cost £25 million to produce, more than the entire annual budget of the Sky Arts channel! It also features the British TV debut of Sofie Gråbøl, famous for her portrayal of Sarah Lund in The Killing. Set and filmed on a glacier in Iceland, Fortitude promises the claustrophobic ‘everyone has a dark secret‘ vibe of Broadchurch combined with the Scandi-cool of The Killing.
The first episode of Fortitude will air on 29th January at 9pm on Sky Atlantic.
