The five TV Shows we’ll be watching out for this spring.

With the news that Kiefer Sutherland’s seemingly indestructible Jack Bauer will soon be returning to our screens for a ninth series we couldn’t help but wonder what other delights will soon be appearing in our living rooms!

We’ve patrolled the web looking for news of the hottest shows coming your way – they may end up being your favourite drama of 2014 or a secret guilty pleasure but they all promise to liven up your small screen viewing!

24 – Live Another Day

Jack’s back! We’ve been waiting a long time to say that line and thanks to a promo aired during an advertising break in the Superbowl we’ve been officially excited. Set to air in the US on the 5th May, our favourite real-time thriller is back and this series find’s the fugitive Jack in London. More news on UK air dates when we have it.

Fleming

Fleming, starring Dominic Cooper as James Bond creator Ian Fleming airs on Sky Atlantic at 9pm on 12th February. This four part drama captures a particular time in Fleming’s life, when, after a failed stint as a stockbroker, Fleming joined British naval intelligence and discovered a talent for invention. Based on true events, Fleming looks lavish and beautiful.

Inspector George Gently

Returning for a sixth series, this crime drama set in the 1960s follows Inspector George Gently as he comes to terms with the dramatic after-effects of the shooting at the end of series five. The series includes four ninety minute episodes. If you’re a fan you won’t be disappointed!

True Detective

Critically acclaimed US drama series True Detective hits Sky Atlantic on 22nd February at 9pm. Featuring mega-stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson as two Louisiana detectives whose lives collide during a 17 year hunt for a killer. This dark and atmospheric eight part series promises to have us hooked!

Salamander

Salamander is a new 12 part Flemish political thriller on BBC Four that begins on Saturday 8th February at 9pm. Secret societies, a bank heist, politics and intrigue all to be tackled by Police Inspector Paul Gerardi – an incorruptible, old school detective.

On our Radar…

We’ve got news on some great shows currently in production:

The Secrets

We’re always happy to learn of a new drama to feature Olivia Coleman as not only is she a fantastic actress but she also has exceptionally good taste in picking her roles. The Secrets, created by Working Title Television, takes an inciting incident, and from this starting point, five different stories are told in five distinctive and original voices. All five episodes are directed by Dominic Savage and we’ll bring you more information when we have it.

Father Brown

Based on the Father Brown books by G.K. Chesterton, Mark Williams is back as the crime solving Roman Catholic Priest in the third series.

And we can but hope that there will be a second series of Dead Good favourite Broadchurch coming our way this year…
